The path curves around the forest, winding in and out of the large trees. Occasionally, it dips back towards the desert, and looking in that direction, you sometimes have a faint view of the sun on sand. You're rather thankful for the trees shading you; it looks like it's getting quite hot out in the light. Rustling in the undergrowth nearby and to the left grabs your attention. "Is someone there?" you call, on the chance that it's a sentient creature. Someone is indeed there, and they respond to your question by poking a nose, and then the rest of a six-legged body, out of the bush... though you can't quite tell whether or not they're sentient. They certainly aren't alone, though, and another soon follows the first out of the brush, followed by a third.

The creatures are similar to what you know as a ferret, but the six legs distinguishes them as a quite different, not to mention quite unique, species. The first keeps its distance from you, and then, quite suddenly, chitters at you, shakes its head, and darts into the bushes on the opposite side of the path. The second one, her fur lovely shades of pink and violet, stays for a bit longer than the first... but impatient chittering from the bush that the male had darted into soon causes her to follow him, disappearing from sight. The third stays a bit longer, venturing up to you and sniffing your hand, before darting away after his companions. Strange little creatures indeed.
